About LOLCODE
LOLCODE was created 25 May 2007 by Adam Lindsay. He emailed his friend (and LOLCat expert) Anne with primitive versions of the HAI WORLD, COUNT!!1, and FILEZORZ examples, and he knew he had to share it with the world.
Coincidentally, earlier that day, he received fulfillment of his Joyent Accelerator virtual server, and thought that the site would be a good test of its capabilities. (It's a good thing, too, as it hit the top of reddit on its first day – Thanks, rodbegbie!)
Inspirations include David McRaney, Anil Dash, I CAN HAS CHEEZBURGER, lolgeeks, Lambda the Ultimate, and all those crazy/smart people on the internet that help make it a wonderful playground.

The core of the site engine is dokuwiki, by Andreas Gohr. The theme is a modified version of Minima, by Esther Brunner. The cat photo is by Karin Dalziel, and appropriated by Adam through the magic of Creative Commons.
