Old contributions

This page and namespace is now locked. It shall remain as a historical document and repository of ideas from when LOLCODE began, but contributions and collaborations have moved to be combination of more formal proposals and discussion on the forum.

The Puzzle Pirate winners have been archived here, as well.

In order to help clean up this section, could implementors please move/create your project page in the implementations/ namespace, and then go to this forum thread to stake your claim and get the project page locked down to you?

Forum Discussions

A wiki is not the best place for active discussions (it's clear that anything new in this section is easily lost in the crowd), so we're phasing out the contributions area for discussions and proposals, and moving towards the forums for such things. There are forum topics for:

IRC Channel

For all of you who don't already know, there is an IRC channel for discussion of LOLCODE contributions and implementations. Actually, a pair of them:

irc.freenode.net #LOLCODE
irc.freenode.net ##LOLCODE

We might just split from freenode tradition and keep #LOLCODE open for chat always, and use the second for developer chat and meetings, but that all remains to be seen. Hope to see you there!

Getting Started

In order to get started, register on the site. The site will email your password to the given email address (and will not use those addresses for any other purpose). Use the password to login. Return to either the contributions page or the keywords page to start making your contributions. The implementations pages are a place to collect implementations and other projects (like syntax highlighters).

If you're unsure of how to handle the editing of pages, try looking at the (dokuwiki) syntax reference and experimenting on the playground.

Ads are turned off for registered users, as an inducement to join the community. I'm afraid we can't handle any contributions by email, because of the volume of traffic and pace of changes on the site, but we welcome your comments at lolcode@lolcode.com.

Contribution guidelines

Most of the new changes in the language are being hashed out in the forum now, because the wiki grew too uncontrollably, too quickly. Forum registration is as easy as on the main site.

As a result, the following directions are deprecated; although they work, you have a much bigger chance of getting your work noticed on the forum:

Create a new page by editing the contributions page and entering [[contributions:new page name]] at the end of the list at the bottom of the page. After saving the page, click on your newly created link and choose “Create this page”. Start typing in your contribution. Identify yourself (such as by using the “Insert Signature” button on the editing bar). Save. Admire your work. Tell your friends.

It is highly recommended that you do not edit other users' contributions unless you're cleaning up the language, deleting spam or eliminating other ill-meaning content. If you have opinions on another user's code or other contributions, then append your version of the code, amendments to the text, or comments to the end of the page, and identify yourself.
